Andrea Pacheco, LCSW
I have always had a genuine interest in the uniqueness and well-being of others. I believe that we can all grow from the situations we have experienced. Whether that experience be divorce, abuse, addiction, or trauma of some sort. Our brains and bodies have a way of healing themselves through processing. Certain experiences can cause us to feel alone, anxious, sad, depressed, unmotivated, angry, violated, exposed, and at times emotionally unstable. Here in therapy I walk the journey with you as we work through emotions, gain insight, and create more beneficial perspectives. I provide a space of safety, understanding, and compassion.
I specialize in Traumatic Experiences. Trauma can impact our thoughts, emotions, and bodies in ways we sometimes do not understand. I utilize the following forms of therapy to assist in working through the harsh impacts trauma can have; EMDR, Focused Art Therapy Processing, Emotional Freedom Therapy, Biofeedback, and more that are used in conjunction.
I hold 16 years of experience where I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of people and fields such as, Human/Sex Trafficking, Domestic Violence, Childhood Sexual Trauma, Sex Addiction, Veterans, Female Injustices, Cultural Injustices, and Ages ranging from 4-90. I look forward to continuing my work and helping you on your journey.
I have been working in the field of mental health and substance use counseling since 2002, including graduate training. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado. I have worked in community mental health and substance abuse, as well as university settings.
My method of working with clients focuses initially of developing rapport, establishing an empathic base, and promoting a sense of safety in the therapy room. I engage with people using interpersonal process therapy, including psychodynamic and cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, humanistic approaches, and attachment theory. I am flexible in my approach of addressing substance use issues, utilizing the continuum of harm reduction (including abstinence) and motivational enhancement therapy. I am continually adding to my knowledge base and incorporating various styles and theories that fit my personality and world view. I focus on person-in-environment and multicultural frameworks when looking at the lives of clients. I find that humor can be helpful, as appropriate, and want the time together to be both productive and meaningful.
I moved to Colorado to be able to spend more time outdoors hiking, camping, and enjoying the wilderness right outside my door. Other hobbies include reading, learning yoga, and spending time with family.
Where did we get our name?

"...trees of the same species are communal, and will often form alliances with trees of other species. Forest trees have evolved to live in cooperative, interdependent relationships, maintained by communication and a collective intelligence similar to an insect colony. These soaring columns of living wood draw the eye upward to their outspreading crowns, but the real action is taking place underground, just a few inches below our feet.
...All the trees here, and in every forest that is not too damaged, are connected to each other through underground fungal networks. Trees share water and nutrients through the networks, and also use them to communicate. They send distress signals about drought and disease, for example, or insect attacks, and other trees alter their behavior when they receive these messages.
Scientists call these mycorrhizal networks. The fine, hairlike root tips of trees join together with microscopic fungal filaments to form the basic links of the network, which appears to operate as a symbiotic relationship between trees and fungi, or perhaps an economic exchange. As a kind of fee for services, the fungi consume about 30 percent of the sugar that trees photosynthesize from sunlight. The sugar is what fuels the fungi, as they scavenge the soil for nitrogen, phosphorus and other mineral nutrients, which are then absorbed and consumed by the trees."
